Fort Myers Fishing Report: Sanibel Vacation-8 Hour Red Grouper Mayhem!

Updated: Aug 27

Planning some exciting adventures to do while vacationing in SWFL can make or break your trip, especially when the kids are hyped up with goals in mind!

This Fort Myers fishing report highlights an 8-hour offshore trip with nonstop red grouper action in the Gulf of America.

On this trip, our anglers minds were made and they were looking to do some offshore fishing for some fresh, Gulf of America caught Red Grouper to eat while enjoying their summertime beach vacation.

We ponied on out from the Punta Rassa Boat ramp which is conveniently located at the base of the Sanibel Bridge in Fort Myers, FL. We made around a 2 hour run out to the fishing grounds on the Salty Beast, our 33 Ft Tournament Edition Catamaran. Once we arrived at the spot, we dropped down our baits and were met with constant action! Time after time rods doubled over with hungry grouper on the line. It was a solid flurry.

Once the bite would taper off, we would move on to the next spot, rinse and repeat!

Its amazing how fast time goes by when your having fun bending rods!

We ended the day with a total of 10 beautiful keeper grouper for the day! Once back at the dock, we took advantage of the newly updated fish cleaning station and filleted and bagged the days catch. We ended up with several 1 gallon zip locks of fillets bursting at the seams! A cooler full of fresh grouper fillets is a pretty good way to end an offshore fishing trip!

If you're planning a Southwest Florida vacation and want to bring home some fresh Gulf grouper, an 8 or 10 hour offshore trip is a great way to spend the day on the water.

Ready to plan your own offshore fishing adventure? Our 8 and 10 hour offshore trips can take you up to 50 miles into the Gulf in search of red grouper and other quality offshore species.
